As an adult, most of your gains have been direct result of your "actions".
Right? ok.
Then how do you define your "actions"?
All those activities where you use your muscles are as actions. Everything that you do physically is action. You will agree that these actions have brought to you the majority of your physical possessions.
Whenever you take an action, any action, you exercise your choice. There are unlimited choices available to everyone. But you are very selective in using those choices. You are consciously or subconsciously always making choices.
Maybe you are not always conscious of the actions your body is taking. Many actions come to you naturally, even without your realizing it. Many actions are reflex actions that just happen to you. Yet your body is taking those actions, out of innumerable choices, because it has been conditioned to function in a particular way.
Indeed it is possible to see a pattern into whatever choices you make and actions you take. Your selection of choices determines what you are doing physically in your day to day life.
Let us read the last sentence again - your selection of choices determines what you are doing physically in your day to day life.
And what is it that determines your selection of choices?
Obviously it is your thinking process. How you think decides what you do in your life. How you view yourself, your surroundings, and your situation in life - all such factors decide your selection of choices. Many of your choices are made subconsciously, but they are all controlled by your thinking process.
Making a choice is a mental process, while taking action on those choices is a physical process. What you do is controlled by how you think, how you perceive various situations.
So we have seen that your "what" (actions) is determined by your "how" (thinking).
Then what is it that controls your "how"?
Now you are beginning to dig deeper within yourself.
What controls your "how" is your "WHY".
And what is your "WHY"? It explains why you do things in the way you do. It is your innermost source of inspiration. It is your motivation at deepest level. It is your real value and belief system that you have inculcated, consciously or otherwise, throughout your life, and you keep nurturing it.
Your own value system judges everything concerning you - including yourself. In your innermost thoughts, you hold an image about yourself, you decide what you are worth. Then your thought process directs your actions to maintain you at the level you have fixed for yourself.
And what is the level you have fixed for yourself?
The answer is simple - your present level. You are at your present level because you have decided, deep within you, that this is what you deserve. I don't mean to sound harsh, but isn't it true?
It is true that you wish to attain much more in your life. You have struggled to achieve more than what you currently possess. But there is a restraining force that prevents you from succeeding as fast as you would like to.
What is this restraining force that is holding you back? This is your "Why". Strange as it may appear, but YOU could be the biggest obstacle in your own success.
If you could understand your "Why", you can pinpoint your problems and then work towards removing them. Then you move towards your potential for growth which is endless. Once the restraining force is eliminated, everyone has limitless potential to grow.
And is it possible to understand your "Why"? Yes, it is possible to understand your "WHY". Everyone will have his or her own explanation of "Why" depending upon his or her individual experience in life. But such tools are available that can help you see your innermost self, modify your "Why" and unleash the immense force you have within yourself.
When that happens, no target will be too big for you.
